Virat Kohli becomes first Asian skipper to achieve this feat

Indian captain Virat Kohli, who has had a brilliant run in 2018, added another feather to his already illustrious cap. Kohli has become the first Asian skipper to win a Test at least in South Africa, England and Australia. He achieved the feat after India's 31-run win over Australia in the 1st Test at Adelaide.

Under his captaincy, India had earlier won a Test each against England and South Africa in 2018 as well. India overshadowed the Aussies in all departments of the game to become the first Indian team to win an opening Test in a series on the Australian soil.

Former India captains Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni won Test matches as captains in England and South Africa but not in Australia. The last Test India won in Australia was at the WACA Ground in Perth in 2008.

The last time India won a Test match in Adelaide was in 2003 under Sourav Ganguly's captaincy. India now have six Test victories in more than 70 years on Australian soil. This is also the first time India has won the opening Test match on an Australian tour.

With a win in the first Test, India now lead the four-match Test series 1-0. The next Test will be played from December 14 in Perth.
