India skipper Virat Kohli surpassed the West Indies legend Brian Lara in the all-time career-high ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen following his fine performance in the third Test against South Africa. Kohli is now on 912 points and has moved from the 31st position to 26th on the all-time list. Kohli surpassed Lara (911), Kevin Pietersen (909), Hashim Amla (907), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (901) and Michael Clarke (900). Australian batsman Steve Smith, who is the current number-one ranked, is second in the all-time list at 947 points. Don Bradman leads the table with 961 points.
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has become the highest paid player in IPL history as the IPL franchise retained him for Rs 17 crore. Earlier, Yuvraj Singh held this record when Delhi Daredevils bought him for Rs 16 crore in 2015. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni was retained for Rs 15 crore.

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli gave an ‘inspiring’ reply to newly crowned Miss World Manushi Chillar at an award function in Delhi on Thursday. Hailing Kohli as “one of the best batsman in the world today” and for being “such an inspiration,” Chillar asked, “How would you like to give back for children, especially in the world of cricket?” Kohli responded saying one has to be genuine and should not pretend to inspire others, adding that it is important not to lose one's own identity and character. “...if you try to be someone else you can never succeed, and you can never inspire others,” he said.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli has said that people on several occasions had tried to problematize his relationship with former captain MS Dhoni. In ‘Breakfast with Champions’ with Gaurav Kapur, the top batsman, however, added that neither he nor Dhoni cared about those controversies. Indian captain Virat Kohli scored his 17th international hundred as captain against Sri Lanka on Thursday. Kohli went past Sourav Ganguly's record of 16 hundreds as Team India skipper. Indian captain Virat Kohli smashed his 29th ODI century in a show of absolute command in the 4th ODI against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium on Thursday. India spinner Kuldeep Yadav reportedly said that there is no one better to judge his bowling than former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. "There is no word to describe MS Dhoni's influence on a young bowler like me", Kuldeep said. "There is no one better than him to judge you because he is watching from behind the wicket and he keeps telling me what I need to. I feel very proud that I am playing with him and very lucky that I could be playing in his 300th game", Kuldeep added.
