The first match of the current IPL series, the play-off round, is being played today (24.05.2022) between the Rajasthan Royals and the Gujarat Titans.
The team that wins the first qualifier qualifies directly for the final.
The losing team must face the winning team in the eliminator round. The winning team qualifies for the final.
Dominated Gujarat and Lucknow teams
The two teams that have won the IPL trophy for the last five seasons, Mumbai Indians (3 times) and Chennai Super Kings (2 times), have been eliminated from the play-off round this time. Similarly, the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans, who are the newcomers to the current IPL series, have progressed to the play - off round at breakneck speed.
