People loot onion sacks as injured truck driver lay on road

It is now a well-known fact that in India, accident victims are more often than not left to fend for themselves. The bystander culture has gone out of hand in the country.

In a similar incident, people were busy stealing onion sacks as a critically injured truck driver, who met with an accident, lay on the road.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, a truck loaded with onions fell about 30 feet down from the Valvan Bridge near Lonavala on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. The accident left the driver critically injured.

Police officials reportedly said the truck driver seemed to have lost control of the vehicle resulting in the eight-wheeler colliding with the divider before taking a plunge and falling down on the old highway.

However, none of that seemed to have bothered the people there, who ran towards the spot after the accident, but not to help the injured guy. Instead, their eyes were fixed on the onions. It's instances like this that make you question your faith in humanity.

The truck driver is said to be undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The Lonavala police will file a case of theft against unknown persons who stole onions from the truck.
