Chennai - Man asks cops for help to start stolen car - arrested

Balakrishnan, 27, was in for a nasty surprise when he ended up asking two cops for help to start a stolen car. The incident took place on Thursday near Puzhal Prison.

Constables R Selvamanickam and P Madhan Kumar who were on guard duty at the prison went to take a tea break at a roadside shop at around 4.45 am. A Tata Ace van, driven by Balakrishnan stopped in front of the tea shop. Balakrishnan, not realising the two men were cops in plain clothes sought their help to start the van.

The two cops while trying to push the van noticed that there was no key in the ignition and also that the front glass of the vehicle was broken. Suspicious, the two called up the number on the van and got to know that the vehicle was stolen the previous night.

Balakrishnan was nabbed by the two cops and handed over to the Puzhal police. The accused had many cases pending against him, including an attempt to murder case.
