Suicide is one of the largest causes of deaths worldwide. According to a WHO report, suicide accounts for 1.4% of the death worldwide, and the number is increasing.

It was just another regular day when traffic cop Jawan Chandra Prakash reported for duty at Pune's Shastri Chowk. When he arrived for duty, his eyes were drawn to a young man who was trying to end his life by hanging himself from Raipur's famous skywalk.

According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, Chandra Prakash rushed to the scene and called in the control room. But when help didn't arrive, he decided to take matters in his own hands. He started climbing the bridge, trying to reach the top of the skywalk using a ladder.

Since the ladder wasn't high enough, he couldn't reach the top. Not giving up on his rescue mission, he somehow made it to the top and saved the boy in the nick of time. Chandra Prakash's valour and effort didn't go unnoticed as Raipur IG announced a reward for the man.

According to reports, the youth is said to be in a compromised medical condition, and that he came to Raipur for training to be a home guard.
