Vellai Kanavu
Singers: Hariharan, Harini
Lyrics: Ranjit Jeyakodi
Making use of Hariharan’s soft voice, this melody has got the flute to chisel our hearts and chord progressions to melt it as well. Limiting the song with just the wind and the string instruments (Acoustic guitars, Banjo and Flute), this track is clean and clear. The composer shows maturity drawing a proper line between improvisation and musicianship.

Lola
Singers: Maria Kavitha Thomas
Lyrics: Karky

High on the bass guitar and the rhythms, this dark-rock song is sure to elevate the scenes. Controlled use of elements like chorus and sound effects makes it a not-so-hard-on the-ears kind of a song.

Parakkiren Naan
Singers: Maria Kavitha Thomas, Srinivas
Lyrics: Karky
Based on the waltz, this melancholic song utilizes voice, Dhabla, Dharbuka, string sessions and ambience to the fullest. Srinivas’ rendition lends warmth to this song.

Mazhaikulle
Singers: Haricharan, Shreya Goshal
Lyrics: Sam.C.S
Resembling the Violin piece from Iddarammayilatho, this track by Haricharan and Shreya Ghosal has got it all to become a hit song. Use of harmonies and setting the tone of the song using the strumming of the guitar are signature elements of a true melody.

Take me higher
Singers: JK, Maria Kavitha Thomas, Suchith Suresan
Lyrics: Sam.C.S

Yes, an English song in a Tamil film. Kavitha Thomas’ trained voice, grand piano, acoustic guitar, Darbuka and violin give you the ballroom effect instigating the jive and the swing in you.

Mellisai Theme
Singers:
Lyrics: Vishnupriya Ravi

Here is the Chennai Orchestra’s expertise for an absorbing instrumental track reflecting the depth of the film.

Verdict: Debutant Sam delivers an impressive album.
