Statue of Unity name board has wrong Tamil translation

Sardar Vallabhai Patel's Statue of Unity was unveiled at Kevadiya in Gujarat today, his birth anniversary. The 182-metre statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The statue standing at 182 metres is the world's tallest statue. However, the name board installed in front of the statue carried a wrong Tamil translation. Statue of Unity should have been ideally translated into 'Ottrumaikana Silai'. However, the name board carried the translation, 'Statuke Opi Unity'.

The major blooper turned out to be an embarrassment for the government. The translation had to be hidden using a tape.
