Despite the modern age and progressive lives, caste seems to remain unchanged. Inhuman incidents over fickle things like caste seem to be happening constantly.

Odisha - Boy carries dead mother on cycle as villagers refuse to help

One such victim of caste hate was young 17-year-old Saroj from Odisha. Saroj's mother Janki Sinhania, 45, died when she was fetching water. Since Saroj did not have a father as well, the teen had to conduct the last rites of his mother. Sadly, none of his neighbours wanted to help Saroj carry his mother's body to the cremation grounds as she was from a 'lower' caste.

The 17-year-old boy covered Janki's body with a cloth and carried her on his bicycle 4-5 km to the cremation ground. The boy allegedly buried his mother in a forest.
