Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday launched ‘Bandicoot’, a robot armed with four limbs and a bucket system. Developed by startup Genrobotics, the robot can be lowered into manholes, shovel garbage and sewage, and clear blockages. The Chief Minister took to Twitter to express hope that “this technology will bring an end to the dangerous practice of cleaning sewers manually.”
