One more promising movie hit by financial trouble.

Nepali, the Bharath starrer to be directed by V.Z.Dorai is facing some serious problems. Till some time back, the film was set to be produced by OST films, the banner that had made ABCD, the Shaam-Sneha starrer. But problems cropped up after the release of
Koodal Nagar. The movie did not do well in spite of some good reports; poor publicity may be one of the reasons. Whatever the reason, the failure of Koodal Nagar seems to have given OST films cold feet. They now feel that the business prospects of Nepali will be affected due to the failure of Koodal Nagar.
So, they have asked the director to scale down the initially
sanctioned budget of 4 crores to as low as 2.6 crores.
That's nearly a 40% cut and that has left V.Z.Dorai in
a miffed state. He feels that the story of Nepali deserves
some big, grand treatment and 2.6 crores would be too
less for it. He is not ready to compromise on his story
in any way. With neither party willing to relent, Nepali
sure seems to be in trouble. The latest news is that V.Z.Dorai
is on the lookout for someone else willing to produce
