About 155 migrant bonded labourers, including 31 children, were rescued from a brick kiln in Avadi by the Revenue Department in Tiruvallur on Thursday, reports The Times of India. The labourers were paid a meagre Rs 200 a week, which wasn't even enough to meet basic needs, the rescued people told officials. Several of them even alleged that they were physically assaulted by their supervisor.
