Technology giant Apple is reportedly planning to launch a cheaper variant of its 13-inch ultra-thin MacBook Air. The cheaper variant is expected to be launched later this year. Reports suggest that the move might help boost Apple’s laptop sales. Apple currently sells the MacBook Air for $999.
The US technology giant Apple recently admitted that it deliberately slowed down older iPhone models with an intention to improve battery performance. Following this, a case has been filed against Apple for slowing down iPhones without the consent of consumers. However, Apple hasn’t given out an official response yet.
Apple has confirmed that it deliberately slows down some models of iPhones as they age, through software updates to balance the phone’s battery performance over time. Notably, Apple’s response comes following wide criticisms that Apple intentionally slows older iPhones to make customers upgrade.
Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the software giant's revenue doubled in the second quarter, compared to the same period last fiscal. It has been reported that iPad sales grew 39 percent in India, among the fastest in the world. It is speculated that Apple may touch $3 billion in revenue in the country in this fiscal.
Reports suggest that tech giant Apple is planning to launch its tenth-anniversary handset iPhone 8 on September 12. Reports also speculated that the phone will be available for sale from September 22. The phone is expected to cost around Rs 64,000 ($999). Apple iPhone 8 is said to flaunt Touch ID paired with facial recognition which will be measured in 'millionths of a second’, reports added.
