Bramman is an upcoming film written and directed by Socrates. The film stars Sasikumar and Lavanya Tripathi with music by DSP.

Vodu Vodu Vodu Vodu
Singers: Chinna Ponnu
Lyrics: Yuga Bharathi

A typical fiery DSP composition, with an equally energetic vocal performance from Chinna Ponnu sets this soundtrack in motion. While the big chorus is more or less on predictable lines, the power of the rhythm section is inescapable.

Unnkannai Penne Nee Illammal
Singers: Karthik, M M Manasi
Lyrics: Thamarai

DSP rehashes his old idea, notably from ‘Bad Boy’, to kickstart the track but then a safe melody takes over without being distorted too much. The orchestration checks all the boxes for DSP’s trademark style but a new approach in arrangement would ensure some of his melodies to shine brighter.

Vaanatthile Nilavu
Singers: Sooraj Santhosh
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The track features the gusto of an intro song but possessing the restraint of a peppy romantic tune, falling in line of the ‘Otha Sollala’ category. DSP’s choice of instrumentation could be on familiar grounds but Sooraj Santhosh’s performance with the backbone of a sturdy rhythm section makes the track irresistible.

En Uyirin Uyiraga
Singers: Anitha, Devi Sri Prasad
Lyrics: Viveka

A western styled tune with DSP’s stretched delivery sounding similar to that of Himesh Reshamiya. Yet another pleasant melody on the album with a tempo that is light yet upbeat, but again the familiar approach in orchestration takes away some of the melody’s potential.

Vaada Vaada Nanba
Singers: Andrea Jeremiah, MLR Karthikeyan
Lyrics: Viveka

Even while approaching what is essentially a song that is laden with sorrow DSP sticks to his guns offering a percussive feast with a chorus that clicks. Andrea is certainly the surprise package here as she seems to feel at home doing these kinds of tracks as well.

Verdict: Few melodies with the usual DSP treatment.
