victory at the Panchayat elections |

Those who took Vijaykanth's considerable
victory at the recent assembly elections
easy, have been left in awe of his
recent victory at the Panchayath
elections. Captain's DMDK, which
contested in the Pondicherry state's
Panchayat Elections, has won the
Karaikkal Municipal Corporation.
It was a clean sweep for Captain's
candidate Prabavathi, who won over
14,845 votes. Her rival, a candidate
from DMK, lost with a considerable
margin of 3,010 votes.

| AIADMK's
candidate was pushed to a pitiful third
place with 4,055 votes. DMDK's resounding
success has sent tremors in the political
scene, and many political parties are feeling
quite threatened by his unexpected success.
Sources reveal that many major parties are
bending over backwards to forge an alliance
with the Captain, but Vijaykanth is undeterred,
and continues to contest as an individual,
much like the assembly elections.
