Researchers at the Universidad de Alicante in Spain have reportedly created an application to locate people in remote locations without a phone signal. The smartphone app can be used in emergency situations arising due to earthquakes, floods or forest fires, where mobile phone infrastructure is often rendered useless. The app is expected to be launched soon.
