A couple from Kanyakumari district has reportedly written to Union Health Minister J P Nadda seeking medical treatment at AIIMS or permission for mercy killing for their six-year-old son. According to reports, the child was put to vegetative state due to medical negligence at the William Hospital in Marthandam, Kanyakumari. The child was born normally with blood sugar level of 29 mg/dL. But his sugar levels dropped to 26 mg/dL in the next eight days. However, the hospital did not inform the family about the drop in sugar level. The child’s father M Dennis Kumar has spent over Rs six lakh for his son’s treatment without any satisfactory results.
