The meteorological department warned Tamil Nadu fishermen to not venture out into the deep sea till September 21. The warning comes ahead of a low-pressure area forming over the east-central Bay of Bengal.
Reportedly, the low pressure may turn into a depression by Thursday. The system may move West-Northwestwards towards North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coasts and will cross between Kalingapatnam - Puri on September 20 night.
Fishermen of Andhra Pradesh and Central Bay of Bengal and North Bay of Bengal were advised to not go fishing on Friday. S Balachandran Deputy director-general of meteorology, Regional Meteorological Centre reportedly said, "Deep-sea fishermen should avoid fishing till Friday. Fishermen from North Tamil Nadu can fish off-shore. South Tamil Nadu fishermen are advised not to venture since there would be the channelising effect of the system."
