D Jayakumar explains abortion audio clip released by Jaya Telecast

Jaya Telecast, TTV Dinakaran faction's mouthpiece had earlier released an audio clip adding to another controversy surrounding the AIADMK. The voice in the sensational clip purportedly belongs to Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar.

From the audio clip that went viral, a voice that sounds similar to the minister can be heard discussing abortion with the mother of an unidentified girl. Allegedly, the unidentified girl was carrying an unborn child which Jayakumar advised to get aborted. Reports claim that the girl was impregnated by the minister and so he was forcing her to get an abortion.

The voice urges the mother of the victim to go for an abortion. He can also be heard assuring the mother that he would help get the abortion done at a hospital in Chennai. Reports claim that the 26-year-old victim met the minister last year to seek a government job when she was impregnated.

Responding to the clip, D Jayakumar on Monday asserted that the voice in the audio clip was not his and called it an attempt to malign his image. He said, "This issue is a laughable one. There is a mafia family that is trying to conspire against me. They are making false charges," accusing Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran.

He also added, "Those who are not able to oppose me directly are creating fake audio clips with a morphed voice and circulating it on social media. I will not accept this. Those behind this are liable to answer the law. I am ready to face them legally."
