Students belonging to the Muthurangam Government Arts College in Vellore staged a road blockade in protest against the bus fare hike. After attempts by the police to dissolve the protest led to a clash with the students, the police to resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protestors. Several protestors have sustained injuries.
