Man declared dead by hospital found alive

In yet another incident of medical apathy, a man who was declared dead by a hospital in Kanpur, regained his senses while being taken for postmortem.

According to a report in The Times of India, the incident occurred on October 7, when a 55-year-old accident victim was brought to a private hospital in Kanpur. The victim, identified as Phool Chand, was declared dead by doctors at the Rama Shiv hospital. He was later found alive while being shifted to the mortuary.

However, the man died later during treatment. A police complaint has been filed by one of his relatives, and an investigation in the case is underway. According to the report, Singh sustained critical injuries in a road accident and was admitted at the Rama Shiv hospital. The doctors declared him dead and also issued a death certificate.

However, on the way to the mortuary, he started breathing. The family members informed the doctors, who later confirmed that the man was alive. He later died during treatment.

Singh's relatives have accused the hospital management of negligence and apathy. Police officials have said that suitable action will be taken once investigation is complete.
