Following protests, Centre to take a stand on this controversial ban

After a massive, sustained backlash from farmers, cattle owners and the general public, the Ministry of Environment and Forests has reportedly decided to withdraw the ban on cattle slaughter. The government is yet to decide the time-frame for the process. The Ministry has also held consultations with animal rights activists and traders on the issue.
