If
one has been watching Page 3 closely
over the past two weeks, one must
have noticed something unusual. Kamal
Hassan attended a few functions during
this period and the news is about
him. The news is that he is always
seen only with a cap on. Why this
cap as a constant? The reason is easy
to guess, he recently tonsured his
head for the shoot of Dasavathaaram.
So he wants to cover his barren head
until some hair grows back, not exactly.
What he wants to cover is the little
bit of hair that remains on his head.
Why? That is the obvious question.
Well,
the hair that is left on his head is not
the usual type. It is a characteristic tuft
(kudumi) sported by Iyers. This is for that
portion of the movie where he plays an Iyer
of the 15th century.
He
does not want anyone to get a sneak
peek into how he would look like
in this highly awaited movie. He
wants to keep suspense till the
very last. So he is taking extra
care to see to it that no one sees
the tuft. Hence the cap. Recently
at the Surya-Jyothika wedding, there
were people who were more interested
in seeing the tuft of Kamal rather
than the newly weds. This explains
why Kamal has to be extra careful.
The reports are that as Dasavatharam
progresses into the more crucial
stages, one will see lesser and
lesser of Kamal at public functions.
He
doesn’t want to let anything out until
the movie actually hits the screens.
