Bala and Ameer’s assistant adopts a new technique

Based on the real life incidents that occurred in the 80s at Madurai, director Sasi Kumar has framed a story and titled it Subramaniapuram. The film, which is about five young people, has newcomers Jai and Swathi in the lead roles. The other four roles are played by Sasi Kumar, Ganja Karuppu, newbies Mari and Vichithran. According to the director,

he had to don the greasepaint himself because another actor refused to star in it. Speaking about his experience in dealing with debutants, Sasi Kumar said his technique is not to tell them the story, as they may start rehearsing and later lose out the essence of the story and in the process, the expressions that he expects of them. Now, that’s very clever of him. Well, he is bound to be one, as he happens to have worked as an assistant to two great master storytellers - Bala and Ameer. Subramaniapuram, which has got a U/A certificate, is slated to be released on July 4th. Let’s see how this fares at the box office.
