A Tamil film for the Guinness World Records
June 28, 2008

Suresh Joachim, the Sri Lankan who has set 50 Guinness world records is now setting out to make yet another footnote in history. Before this, he has various records, running continuously for 168 hours on a treadmill, bowling (not cricket) continuously for 100 hours, drumming for 84 continuous hours and many more superhuman efforts. His latest record will be

through Tamil cinema. The record attempt will not be part of the movie, it will be the movie itself. The yet untitled movie (according to Guinness regulations) will be shot, processed, edited and printed in a record 12 days (720 hours).

The movie is planned to be shot between December 8 and December 20 when Guinness officials will be present to monitor the film making process. You might be wondering that there was a Tamil film Swayamvaram that had completed shooting in just 24 hours which is a record in itself. However, the post production works of Swayamvaram had taken much longer and it was ineligible for the award.

This record breaking attempt will feature Navya Nair in the lead along with Suresh Joachim. Amala Das will direct the movie and VT Vijayan will do the editing. Four cameramen will be involved. Deva will handle the music which will see a blind singer making his/her debut in one of the five songs. Deva was particularly happy with this because he said that newcomers always found it the going hard even if they had his backing. Producers and directors always wanted established names, the ‘Karuppu than enakku pudicha coloru’ being a case, he points. Navya Nair too was very proud to be part of this record breaking attempt.

The other thing to note about this effort is that with its release in Tamil Nadu, Suresh Joachim aims to provide assistance to at least fifty poverty stricken children in the state. More on Suresh Joachim: he aims to break 500 records in the next 10 years and thus hold the unique record of holding the most records at one time. His next world record attempt before the movie will be in Toronto in August where he will be aiming to play a guitar for 50 consecutive hours. He also plans to run a world peace marathon starting in December 2009 through which he hopes to raise 1 billion dollars in charity and to form a world cease fire petition that will have a world record 50000000 signatures. Wishing this record breaker all the best.
