Won’t do anything against people’s sentiments: D Jayakumar on Sterlite

In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, Tamil Nadu fisheries minister D Jayakumar said that the government will not do anything against the people’s sentiments, when talking about the people’s protests against Sterlite copper plant in Tuticorin and India-based Neutrino Observatory in Theni. When asked if the government has not taken any stand on the matters, the AIADMK leader said the government will come to a decision after the district collectors send reports to the government based on the petitions filed by the people.

While speaking about the state of law and order situation in Tamil Nadu with respect to recent allegations against the police department, Jayakumar said, “There are some ‘black sheeps’ in all the places. We need to remove them.” He also denied allegations that the law and order situation in the state has gotten worse after the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
