According to reports, a Ramanathapuram judicial magistrate court on Monday sentenced a police inspector named K Kannan to one year in jail as he brutally tortured a man in 2005 when he was an inspector in the Nainarkoil police station in Ramanathapuram in 2005. The man named Ganeshan was arrested after a woman complained that her jewellery was missing. While Kannan tortured Ganeshan in custody and the latter was admitted to hospital. Later, the woman returned to the police station and said that the jewellery was found in her home. Following this development, Ganeshan filed a complaint.
