On the day when Sun shined bright in Chennai, the regional Meteorological centre reportedly declared the onset of Northeast monsoon. While just 1 mm rainfall was recorded on the day when Northeast monsoon started, weather station in Mettupatti, Madurai was reportedly the only place that recorded 80 mm rainfall in Tamil Nadu. However, S Balachandran, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre reportedly said that monsoon would steadily increase in two days, and will be at its peak thereafter.
