The regional weather office reportedly confirmed that the northeast monsoon has finally commenced over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, south coastal Andhra and south interior Karnataka on Friday. Though Chennai has experienced only scattered rainfall, reports say that the rainfall is expected to intensify in the coming days. S.Balachandran, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, reportedly said as the monsoon picks pace, many areas will receive rainfall from Monday.
