Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, while in an interview with News 18 Tamil Nadu, said he lauded actor Vijay for proudly revealing his identity as “Joseph Vijay”. Vijay released a statement thanking fans and supporters for the victory of his Diwali release ‘Mersal’. In the letterhead, Vijay had used the name ‘Joseph Vijay’ along with ‘Jesus saves’ written on it. BJP leader H Raja had earlier published a picture of the actor’s voter’s ID and a letterhead bearing the name ‘Joseph Vijay’ on Twitter, with the caption, “Truth is bitter”.
