Pregnant woman killed for touching bucket in upper caste house in UP

A pregnant woman named Savitri Devi died in Bulandshahr of Uttar Pradesh after an upper caste woman and her son punched in her stomach and smashed her head on the wall for touching the bucket in their house, say reports. The victim is reportedly a Dalit woman who earned a livelihood by cleaning households. Police have reportedly launched a search hunt for Anju Thakur and her son Rohit who attacked the woman on October 15. While doctors sent the Dalit woman and her husband home saying she suffered no big injuries, Savitri had been complaining of pain in head and stomach from the day they returned home. Later, the woman and the baby in the womb died on November 21. A post-mortem report suggested heavy injuries in the head and spine to be the reason behind the death.
