MAJOR FIRE BREAKS OUT AT POWER GRID SUB-STATION IN SALEM

A major fire, which broke out at the power grid sub-station in Salem on Friday, disrupted power supply to nearby districts, say reports. A transformer caught fire and burst causing the fire to spread rather quickly. Video footages of the incident showed heavy smoke emerging from the spot.

Dozens of firefighters were rushed to the spot to bring the fire, which was spreading quickly under control. They brought the fire under control after struggling for over an hour. The incident took place in the Tamil Nadu power grid substation in K R Thoppur area.
