Following the verdict by Chengalpattu court which convicted 23-year-old Dhaswant and sentenced him to death in the case of rape and murder of 7-year-old Hasini, judge Velmurugan said, “If maximum punishment was not given in the case, people would have lost trust in the judiciary.”
