Dengue deaths increased due to late admission

After an inspection in government hospitals in Salem, a committee member of Central medical team allegedly said that the majority of deaths caused due to dengue has increased as there was a delay in admitting the patients. Reportedly, 5270 people affected with fever were admitted to a hospital in Salem out of which 500 had symptoms of Dengue. According to media reports, 14 patients died in GMK Medical College hospital because the treatment was not given on time. The committee member also added that if the disease was treated at an early stage, the number of deaths would have been controlled.
