According to reports, Kanyakumari district collector Sajjan Singh R Chawan has reportedly announced that the schools and colleges in the district will not function on Friday as heavy rains are expected. Heavy rains lashed the district on Thursday after a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal intensified into Cyclone Ockhi in the morning. At least four rain-related deaths were reported after the formation of Cyclone Ockhi.
