Chennai rains: Roads flooded, vehicles stuck in traffic

Due to heavy North-East monsoon rains in Chennai, several roads including arterial stretches were flooded. Motorists were stuck in traffic jam for more than two hours as the rain has been pouring since early in the morning. Traffic was interrupted in many areas including Ambattur Estate, Villivakkam, Perambur, Madhavaram and Vadapalani. However, the Chennai district collector has reportedly said that schools and colleges will remain open.
