Vijay (31), allegedly jumped into the sea off Pondichery on Sunday to speak to God. The man, a software engineer from Chennai was noticed sitting on the shore by a few fishermen. When they tried talking to him, Vijay tried to run away and eventually jumped into the water. He was rescued by the fishermen who also informed the police. Vijay allegedly responded that he attempted suicide as God had called to him. The police sent the man off with his parents after getting a letter of consent from him that he will not perform such acts anymore.
