CHENNAI: CALLED 'FAT', CLASS 11 GIRL SETS SELF ON FIRE

An unidentified Class 11 girl from Chrompet committed suicide on Wednesday by immolating herself as she was teased by her classmates about her weight gain. She was admitted to Kilpauk Medical College hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday morning.
 

According to media reports, her parents have alleged that the repeated complaints they had given about their ward being harassed over fat-shaming fell on deaf ears of the school management.

Police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
