Gurgaon man livestreams suicide, 2000 people watch

A married man from Gurgaon committed suicide on Monday evening and live streamed the act. The man hanged himself to death from a ceiling fan at his house.

26-year-old Amit Chauhan committed suicide after an altercation with his wife Preethi. The wife reportedly left the house along with their two children following which Chauhan took the extreme step. It was made easier for him as nobody was present at the home.

Chauhan reportedly posted two videos on Facebook in a span of 15 minutes. While the first video featured him explaining his decision to end his life, the second video was of him carrying out the act. The video was reportedly shared 50 times and viewed 5,000 times.

Chauhan's parent came to know of his death later in the night and went ahead with the cremation without informing the police. After a tip-off from an anonymous person, the police came to investigate. However, the family dismissed them and reasoned that Chauhan was mentally disturbed.

It was disturbing that 2,000 people had viewed the video and made no attempt to stop Chauhan or inform the police.
