Bharathiar University Vice-Chancellor Ganapathy was arrested on Saturday after a professor named Suresh filed a complaint with the anti-corruption bureau that Ganapathy demanded Rs 30 lakh as bribe to make him a permanent staff. Following his arrest, the director of distance education at Bharathiar University, Mathivanan, was also arrested on Sunday in connection with the case. Reports say that Mathivanan is a relative of the Vice-Chancellor.
