Many raised their concerns over the overload Indian players have to face. In response to the concerns raised, Head Coach Ravi Shastri reportedly stated that he is keen to reduce the workload for the players. Shastri revealed that he will speak to the franchises and the respective captains to manage the workload of the Indian stars who are all but certain to take part in the World Cup.

Shastri said, "We want to make sure that they play only an optimal number of matches without affecting their fitness or form for the World Cup. We will seek proper rest for them, so they are in absolute readiness for the World Cup.”

Shastri added that though he cannot interfere too much, he will definitely have a talk with the players and franchises. With key players opting for rest often, the respective team's overall performance may be impacted.
