As
you might well remember, a grand felicitation
has been arranged to celebrate the
Chief Minister Karunanidhi’s
announcement to rejuvenate Tamil cinema
including tax exemption of movies
with Tamil titles. Arrangements are
underway for the cultural programs
that are planned to stage on that
day and the Selection Committee comprising
of Sathyaraj, Ramanarayanan, and Thaenappan
are busy meeting artistes inviting
them to perform in the function.
Unfortunately,
the Selection Committee is met with
more turndowns than receptions. After
some top stars, it was time for Sada
and Reema Sen to do the honors by
declining the invitation plainly.
They refused to take part in any cultural
event and if it is inevitable, they
have to be paid. While insiders say
these reasons are told only to avoid
attending the function, only time
will tell how many will turn up at
the function and make the function
a grand one – as it is planned.
