Despite a hectic shooting schedule, Aishwarya
Rai has given dates to Maniratnam’s Guru.
Ash, who is currently working in Aditya Chopra’s
Abishek Bachhan starrer Umrao Jaan, had her
producer adjust with his dates to accommodate
Mani sir’s call sheets. Says Harjit Singh,
Ash’s managaer: “That only shows
the regard and respect other filmmakers have
for Maniratnam.” There were many who wanted
to have Ash’s date but the diva had no
ways to accommodate them. Ashutosh wanted Ash
in Aklar Jodha and Dishoom II. And then, Will
Smith, Ketan Verma and Ashutosh Gowarikar too
wanted to sign up the diva. That Ash chose to
work with Maniratnam willingly shows the regard
the diva has for the man who introduced her
to filmdom with his Iruvar.
