Pen Singam, a film based on the novel Surulimalai penned by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi, will be released today (June 3rd). The release was slotted purposefully so that it coincides with the CM’s 87th birthday. Penn Singam was directed by Bali Srirengam and stars Uday Kiran and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles. The director, who is making his debut with this film, was an assistant to Parthiban.

Speaking about Karunanidhi’s involvement in the film, he said, “He has been very meticulous in shaping up the film. The film will be entertaining and also has a social message on women empowerment.”

The film has an elaborate star cast which includes Rambha, Manorama, Karthika, Rohini, Richard and Vivek.
