Director K Balachander celebrated
his 80th Birthday on 9th of July
with his family. Then later when
he joined the Irattaichuzhi shooting
crew at Tirunelveli, he was in for
a pleasant surprise. Birthday celebrations
planned in silence had Director
KB cut a cake and the first piece
was given to KB by Director Bharathiraja.
Though birthday celebrations and
cutting cakes are not something
new to film industry, it is the
first time that Director KB has
cut a cake on his birthday that
too heeding to the affectionate
call of Bharathiraja. Bharathiraja
recalled with gratitude the two
people instrumental in bringing
him into the celluloid industry,
Directors Shridhar and K Balachander.
He also reiterated that this celebration
was in a way an opportunity to salute
their unparalleled achievements
in the film industry.
Director Shankar’s S Pictures
has brought together two legends
of Tamil Cinema, the towering directors
K Balachander and Bharathiraja in
prime roles in his forthcoming venture.
This new project titled Irattaichuzhi
is being directed by debut director
Thaamiraa with new faces Aari and
Anjali adorning the lead cast. Though
Bharathiraja and Balachander have
proved their acting prowess individually,
this is the first time they are
coming together, to act.
Director KB thanked the entire
crew and expressed his overwhelming
joy of his energy levels having
been greatly pepped up. He signed
off with confidence that the duo
acting together will again create
a landmark in the industry and surpass
expectations. Happiness abounding
he said, “We have touched
peaks in direction and sure to do
so again in acting too.” Behindwoods
prays for his health and happiness
making his dreams come true.
