A 27-year-old working as a software engineer in Bengaluru reportedly committed suicide in Madurai, on Sunday. Police reports suggest, the man committed suicide as he was frustrated by his hair problem and appeared depressed over the last weeks. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
A newlywed couple reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves at their house in Kengari, Bengaluru, on Sunday. Reports say, the couple fell in love and got married in the city on November 2. Further, the couple recently rented a house and shifted there 15 days ago. However, the reason behind their death is still unknown as the couple didn’t leave a suicide note behind. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
In a shocking incident, a family of seven members was found dead on Friday morning in Telangana. The deceased include a 44-year-old man, his wife, his three kids, his father-in-law and his mother-in-law. They reportedly consumed biryani which was made in their home the previous night. It is still unknown whether they poisoned the food to commit suicide.
According to reports, three students committed suicide this year alone at IIT Nuzvid. In October, two students committed suicide, while another student attempted to kill himself. Following this, one more student also committed suicide by jumping from the building, on Thursday. However, officials of IIT Nuzvid stated that there are various reasons why students commit suicide and majority of the students face personal problems that drive them to commit suicide.
According to reports, a class 7 student of a private school in Thiruvottiyur committed suicide by hanging himself after teachers allegedly scolded him for scoring low marks in the term examinations. Some other boys, who went to the second floor of his house to play, saw 12-year-old Viswasai hanging dead and informed his parents. His body was sent to Stanley Hospital for post-mortem.
According to reports, a cop from Roshanai near Tindivanam was admitted to a hospital in Chennai due to kidney malfunctioning. Reports suggest that the family needed Rs 60 lakh for the treatment of the cop, Rajaram. Disturbed over the issue, Rajaram’s son Ranjith Kumar allegedly stabbed his mother and sister to death, and committed suicide by hanging himself, reports added.
Depressed over the plight of their eldest daughter who was divorced, three of a family committed suicide in Jalakandapuram. The deceased were identified as V.K. Shekar (65), his wife Gandhimathi (60) and their eldest daughter, Hemalatha (35).
Naseer, 55 of Arapakkam killed his 22-year-old daughter Yasmeen and then committed suicide. Naseer's wife had passed away 15 years ago. Following a head injury due to a road accident, Naseer was unable to go to work. The cops filed a case due to death and drowning.
According to a report by the Indian Council of Medical Research, suicide causes more death than road accidents among all age groups in Tamil Nadu. Reports say, those between the age group of 15 and 39 are most vulnerable to suicide in the state, making Tamil Nadu the second highest in suicide rates among this age group in the country, after Tripura.
A class 8 girl studying in a private school in Coimbatore hanged herself as she was allegedly depressed over being scolded by her teacher. Reports say, the 13-year-old girl was allegedly scolded by her teacher for lagging in studies, after which she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her residence in Karuttumedu in Coimbatore. Police are reportedly investigating the incident.
Firefighters reportedly rescued a youngster who threatened to commit suicide near Express Avenue. Reports say, the youngster climbed up a crane at a construction site near Royapettah’s Express Avenue. Police after several hours of talks with the youngster convinced him otherwise. Investigations revealed that the youth tried to commit suicide because he was denied proper treatment in Royapettah government hospital.
Following the suicide of a postgraduate student in Osmania University’s hostel washroom on Sunday, protests broke out in the college. Reports say, 22 college students were arrested for involving in violence in the college campus. While nine were reportedly produced before a court in Hyderabad on Monday, the rest were left off with a warning. Students alleged that depression due to unemployment and government’s delay in releasing job notification were reasons that led to the suicide. The university has reportedly postponed exams that were scheduled on December 5 and 6.
A college student named Rasheela committed suicide after her friend in college didn’t speak to her for a week. The 22-year-old differently-abled student from Korattur was studying in the second year of B.Com in Presidency College. Rasheela was depressed as her friend didn’t speak to her and attempted suicide by consuming pesticide. She was rushed to Kilpauk government hospital where she died on Friday, say reports. Police have reportedly filed a case.
An elderly couple, Kuppusamy (67) and Kothai (60) of Padi, committed suicide as there were suffering from health issues and didn't want to bother their sons for money. A suicide note in this regard was recovered by the police.
A 34-year-old woman from Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu reportedly jumped to death from the 9th floor of a building in Bengaluru, on Monday. Reports say, the woman who is said to be an artiste jumped from the 9th floor of the hotel carrying a painting kit. Police reports suggest, she left no suicide note and the reason which led her to take this extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
The class teacher and headmaster of the school where four girl students who committed suicide on Friday, studied were reportedly suspended on Saturday. The parents of the deceased girls who studied in a government school in Tamil Nadu's Vellore alleged that the girls ended their lives as the teacher humiliated them. According to reports, the chief education officer said that investigations are underway and other students will be enquired to find the motive behind the suicide.

Cops have launched a hunt for Madurai-based film financier Anbu Chezhiyan, who is alleged to have lead film producer Ashok Kumar, a relative of director-actor Sasikumar to commit suicide. It is alleged that Anbu Chezhiyan started harassing the director and extorted him financially. The director left behind a suicide note in which he blamed the financier of increasingly pressurising him in the last six months and went to the extent of saying that the director's family members will be harmed, reports say. Deputy CM O Panneerselvam and fisheries minister D Jayakumar have promised necessary action on the issue.
C David, a 15-year-boy from Thiruverkadu hanged himself to death following two days of police interrogation on Tuesday. It is alleged that David was suspected of motorbike theft. Family members allege that the boy was tortured in police custody and was forced to “confess” to the crime.
