Vijayakanth has plunged into politics with the launch of his political party. Although he does not lay claim to any office, many cannot miss the unmistakable intention. He has always shown his characters to be do gooders without any greed for political power. This is a subtle ploy to gauge the public mood. Continuing his message oriented movies, his home production Sudesi shows him as a social worker who also raises his voice against injustice. Heroine Ashima pines for him but he rejects her in his course of public duty.

He records the misdeeds of the Chief Minister and extracts repentance with the help of the video footage. In the climax, he becomes the CM himself because he is forced by circumstances. This does remind one of old MGR movies. While MGR did not overtly state his ambitions, Vijayakanth who claims to be a real follower of MGR, does not hide them.
