There is a dearth of heroines back in the Kerala film industry. Attracted by glitz and lucre, the Malayalam divas have crossed over to Kodambakkam. Nayantara, Navya Nayar, Renuka Menon, Asin, Bavana, Gopika – the list is growing. Some of these settle down in Chennai while some make another crossover to Hyderabad. This has put the Malayalam industry in a dearth of heroines.

There is no glamorous pair for Mamooty or Mohanlal. Kavya Madhavan, who appeared En Manavanil and Gopika are the only who were left out for Malayalam heroes. They are now importing new faces from Hyderabad to be cast opposite the stalwarts. Two of them have already landed in the Malabar coast – Laya and Veda.
