Kohila
Singers: Leon James, Neeti Mohan
Lyrics: Madan Karky

The anticipated album begins on a brisk note with a soulful duet sung by the composer himself and supremely talented Neeti Mohan. Though the rhythm gives an impression of being retro in the first listening, it is contemporary enough to keep the trend going. The timely piano touches rightfully add the much needed garnish for this stylish number. Watch out for the lovely fusion with Sitar in the first interlude. The overall impact of the composition is quite fresh and soothing.

Vidaadha
Singers: Leon James, Vishal Dadlani
Lyrics: Na Muthu Kumar

After a sweet overdose of duets in the beginning, the album switches gears for a Jazzy number next. With impressive lyrics and stylish vocals by Vishal Dadlani, the song has a trendy appeal along with clever blend of Jazz, Dubstep, and modern Indian folk flavor. This track retains an breathtakingly fresh flavor once again.  A instant winner in every respect!

Kannamma
Singers: Chinmayi, Inno Genga
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

A graceful detour occurs in the form of a mesmerizing track supported well by superior vocals and Hip-Hop beats- in a mellowed fashion. The track gathers pace in a fluid manner with the delicate presentation. The trance like ambience is justified making it an ideal track to listen on highways from now! The interludes are intricately woven with mild strings, chorus-thereby creating a musically compelling feast! Chinmayi’s presence occurs only in the charanam with her less than usual higher octave singing which would steal the listener’s heart!

Unnai Maatrinaal
Singers: Harish Sivaramakrishnan, Sragam Choir
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

Unnai Maatrinaal was released as the first single from the album. Although a song on this vein was expected from a film soundtrack such as this, it is a powerful and rousing number and with Harish Sivaramakrishnan of the band Agam fame on vocal duties just lends it the power it deserves. This track stands out in the album after the breezy musical ride you take with the rest of the songs.

Kannamma (Reprise)
Singers: Salim Merchant
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

The most brilliant melody of the album arrives in reprise mode sung by Salim – one of the composers from the Bollywood duo Salim-Sulaiman. The track is taken forward with timely piano base and mild treble- yet makes a breathtaking impact on the listener. Salim does a wonderful job in singing this number despite being his debut in Tamil! However, the real highlight lies in the second interlude with a passionate string violin solo.

This KO 2
Singers: N/A
Lyrics: N/A

A gripping instrumental which attempts to be eerie and adventurous at the same time. The chord progression is quite impressive and brilliantly sequenced with Sitar and Hip-Hop beats.

Verdict: The album stays true to the film’s theme and also vouches for novel experimentation and musical feast!
