Vijayakanth is an actor turned politician who has acted in over 155 films Tamil from 1979 and he runs his party DMDK (Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam). His last film as a lead was Virudhagiri in 2010.
He was undergoing treatment in the USA for a medical illness. The actor has returned to Chennai on February 16 morning after the completion of his treatment.
